Blue Jay

Blue Jay is made using repurposed materials including an antique doll body collaged with old clothing patterns, kid leather glove wings, repurposed fabric and frozen Charlotte dolls.

Frozen Charlotte dolls were made between 1850 and 1920 and are based on an American folk ballad called Fair Charlotte. The story is about a young girl who refused to wear a coat or wrap in a blanket to go to a New Years ball by sleigh. She did not want to cover up her pretty dress. Because of her vanity, she froze during the journey. The Blue Jay’s wings offer protection and warmth.. In spirit lore, Blue Jays represent intelligence, protection, fearlessness and clarity.

Blue Jay is a one of a kind art doll sculpture that measures 22.5 x 7 x 6 inches with a loop for wall hanging.
