Singing for Rain
Singing for Rain’s song is throaty, lyrical, piercing, and quiet — a hum that vibrates across the universe. He gathers the song of every blade of grass, leaf, stone, bird and animal and opens his mouth wide. What emerges is every voice, singing for rain.
He is made with an antique doll body, repurposed fabric and a toy watering can found at a brocante market in Paris. His body is collaged with old clothing patterns and has white paint, stitching and red cross patches. The flower fabric on the legs is a metaphor for the blooms that will come when it rains. Symbols and binary code are embroidered on the legs.
Singing for Rain is a one of a kind mixed media art textile sculpture measuring 26 x 5.5 x 5.5 inches and can be displayed on a table top using the stand or on the wall with the hanging loop on the back.
