Swan

Small Pencil Voices, Swan is made with an antique doll body and repurposed fabrics. The beak and collar are made from pieces of my grandfather’s quilt. Vintage French buttons and antique beads adorn the wings and the lower legs are painted with gray clay paint. The body and wings are collaged and embroidered with text in French, Italian, Latin, Danish, and Portuguese. The Swan finds the beauty of the universe and writes the world gently with well worn pencils.

Small Pencil Voices, Swan is a one of a kind mixed media textile sculpture with a hanging loop on the back for wall display and measures 22 x 8 x 4 inches.
